One obvious question I would like to answer:

Why did I do all this?

I wanted to dust off all those travel photos sitting in my apartment and do something with them!    I enjoy the way they look in digital format on the computer and I also wanted to play around some more with HTML.

How did I create this site?

I created it entirely in Notepad, the word processing editor that can be found in the "Accessories" category of most Windows PC's.    I then edited everything using a free software program called Arachnophilia.   Most of the text I wrote in Word because it was easier to read, then cut and pasted it into Notepad.   As you can see, I found the whole process pretty addictive and now I understand why there are a billion or so web pages floating around out there!

Why the different color versions of each page?

I initially created this site with colored backgrounds and a lively font:   comic sans ms.  After experimenting a little bit, however, I decided that the photographs looked better against a black background.   Out of curiosity, I also wanted to see what they looked like against a white background.   Although it was a little time consuming, I decided to try everything with both black and white backgrounds in addition to the colored backgrounds.  I'm still not sure which one I prefer and get mixed reactions from people who look at both. One of these days I'll make up my mind!

What kind of camera did I use to take these pictures?

Unfortunately, I used a cranky old Canon Canonet QL17 camera, which was purchased in 1980!  The focus no longer seems to work very well and it's hard to advance and rewind the film.  It desperately needs to be cleaned, but no dealer will touch this camera because it is too old and they can no longer obtain the parts if they need to replace something.  So, I purchased an Olympus LT Zoom 105 a couple of years ago and it seems to work pretty well, but the camera I really want to buy is a Canon EOS A2.  Hopefully, I can buy one within a year or so and take clearer photos on my next trip!
